2.1 We work via mail order and are not a public retailer and so unfortunately do not have a public display.
2.2 Visits are by appointment only and usually often only for collections of prepaid orders.
2.3 If you wish to visit, please call ahead to arrange an appointment and to avoid a wasted journey.
How to Place an Order
2.1 To order online, choose your product(s) through the Product Menu (on the left) or by searching in the Quick Search Box (top left). Select the product(s) you wish to buy and click ‘add to cart’.
2.2 View your shopping cart to ensure you have selected the correct product(s) and correct quantities. Then click ‘next’ and check your delivery option is correct.
2.3 Select 'checkout', choose your payment method, enter your billing information and follow the steps to payment.
2.4 You can either pay by PayPal or with a debit/credit card. Click 'Place Order' to finalise your order, your Order Confirmation will then be displayed. For card payments: follow the previous steps and call us on +44 (0)117 9442640. Please take note of your Invoice Number; this is a 5-digit number displayed on your Order Confirmation.
2.5 To order by telephone, call us on +44 (0)117 9442640 and please take note of the product name and/or product code.
2.6 99% of items are in stock. If item is out of stock, please allow up to 1 - 2 weeks for restocking. On the off chance, it takes longer we will contact you to let you know when it’s due to become available. Please contact us to check stock levels.
2.7 Telephone Orders: We will not be liable for mistakes made over the phone. We will always reconfirm the product(s) ordered over the phone, to ensure they are correct. To avoid any mistakes please order online or confirm with us via email.
2.8 Annual Holidays: We close annually for Easter, Summer and Christmas. All orders placed before our closure date, will be dispatched as normal. All orders made during closure, will be dispatched upon reopening. These dates will be clearly stated on multiple pages on our website as well as before confirming your order.
2.9 There is no minimum order.
2.10 Delivery and (20%) VAT will be added on to all orders.
2.11 Orders received without payment will be deleted from our system after 5 calendar days.
2.12 Original Marquetry Ltd do not accept any terms or agreements provided by customers.
3.1 We accept major debit and credit cards (Maestro, MasterCard and Visa), PayPal, bank transfers and cheque payments, see below for notes.
3.2 We do not offer Credit as payment.
3.3 All goods remain the property of Original Marquetry Ltd until paid for in full.
3.4 Orders will only be dispatched once full payment has been received (after cleared payment date). If paying by standard bank transfer or cheque, this may delay the standard dispatch timeframe.
3.5 Before making a payment, check your proforma invoice for the total payable amount or call us for confirmation.
3.6 Card Payments: Available over the phone. To pay by card, please call us with your card to hand.
3.7 PayPal Payments: A PayPal email address/account is required.
3.8 Bank Transfer Payments: Our bank details are provided upon request and acceptance of proforma invoices. Contact us via phone or email to confirm your payment has been made. All bank transfer charges must be paid by your side.
3.9 Cheque Payments (UK Only): Payable to Original Marquetry Ltd. Before sending a cheque, check your Proforma Invoice for the total payable amount or call us for confirmation. Contact us via phone or email to confirm your payment has been made. Please consider your order will only be dispatched once your cheque has cleared; this may delay the standard dispatch timeframe.
4.1 In the event of a typographical error, including but not limited to where a special enquiry, bespoke quotation, any other quotation, product price, delivery price or item description has been listed incorrectly, on our website, catalogues, marketing materials and/or via email, we reserve the right to refuse or cancel the order placed for the goods at the incorrect price. If your card has already been charged, we will immediately action a refund for the amount.
4.2 A small tolerance for sizes must be accepted as all measurements are approximate, unless otherwise stated.
4.3 A product’s colour may vary slightly due to lighting when photographed and different monitor settings.
4.4 Texture, marks or the grain of certain natural products may differ slightly to its photo; as no two pieces are the same. This is often but not exclusively, the case with Mother of Pearl and natural shell products.
4.5 Prices can be changed without prior notice.
4.6 We reserve the right to alter specifications.
5.1 Our marquetry panels include, but are not limited to chessboards, draughts boards, backgammon boards and bespoke marquetry.
5.2 Our marquetry panels are made of multiple pieces which are held together using veneer tape. Glue with the veneer tape side uppermost (facing up) and visible. Once the glue is dry, the veneer tape can be removed by slightly dampening the tape and carefully rubbing it off with a scraper.
5.3 As marquetry is hand crafted and particularly with very small-scale designs; a small tolerance for sizes must be accepted.
5.4 Our marquetry panels are usually made with 0.6mm thick wood veneers, making them delicate and brittle.
5.5 Please store the panels in a cool, dry place; flat and (if possible) under a weight/press or in clamps until ready for use.

Wood Veneer Information
6.1 We pride ourselves on selling top quality veneers. As wood veneer is a natural product, it may have small natural blemishes or splits, these can be easily repaired.
6.2 Coloured Veneer: We are the Distributor of SAS Dyed Coloured Wood Veneers, the best quality coloured veneers available in the world. They are made in an alcohol system where the dyes penetrate 100% of the wood fibre so are the same colour throughout the whole veneer, even if a small layer is sanded away.
6.3 CAUTION: Please be careful with coloured veneer dust created when sanding, especially the Red or Black Dyed Veneers, it needs to be brushed away completely before applying any type of polishing. We suggest sampling your polishing method with small pieces of your chosen veneer before doing so on a big project.
6.4 Original Marquetry Ltd will not be held responsible for any damage or mistakes caused to the veneer by the customer including, but not limited to Coloured Veneer Dust Transfers or any other damage due to not testing finishing methods.
6.5 Wood veneer is sent rolled up in a cylindrical package. It should be unpacked as soon as possible after delivery. Storing the veneer rolled up for a duration of time can cause the veneer to keep its rolled shape. We recommend unpacking the veneer as soon as possible and storing it in a cool, dry place; flat and (if possible) under a weight/press.
6.6 Please keep wood veneers away from direct sunlight, as it can cause bleaching and discoloration.
Bespoke Projects, Commissions & Special Enquires
7.1 Quotations: Prices quoted for all special enquiries including, but not limited to Bespoke Projects and Bespoke Marquetry are valid for 30 calendar days, unless otherwise stated. Original Marquetry Ltd reserve the right to re-quote at the time of order for Brass Strip quotations due to metal price fluctuations. This is usually but not exclusively stated via email.
7.2 Bespoke Projects: As bespoke projects are hand crafted and particularly with very small-scale designs; a small tolerance for sizes must be accepted. Due to different design and material choices; Bespoke Projects can be subject to their own additional terms and conditions as technical aspects will differ for each project.
7.3 Brass Strips: Lengths are approximate, other sizes are precise. As metal prices fluctuate, Original Marquetry Ltd reserve the right to re-quote at the time of order. Unless otherwise stated, brass strips are provided in their raw state: milled finish with no polish.
7.4 Prices quoted exclude delivery & VAT, unless otherwise stated.
7.5 If the project/work has already commenced, cancellations for Bespoke Projects and other Special Orders will not be accepted and refunded.
7.6 Returns for Bespoke Projects and other Special Orders will not be accepted.
8.1 We use couriers for a fully trackable and top quality service.
8.2 Delivery Time: estimated 3 - 5 working days from cleared payment date. After placing an order, please expect delivery for up to 5 working days and ensure someone will be in to receive and accept the parcel.
8.3 Delivery times may vary, particularly during peak periods such as seasonal holidays and during extreme weather conditions.
8.4 Original Marquetry Ltd is not responsible for the delivery time as this information is provided by the courier. Deliveries exclude Saturdays, Sundays, Bank Holidays (unless otherwise stated) and conditions outside of our control such as staff strikes, extreme weather conditions etc.
8.5 99% Next Working Day Delivery: Only valid for orders placed before 1:00pm. Excludes some locations. Excludes Saturday, Sunday, Bank Holidays and conditions outside of our control such as staff strikes, extreme weather conditions etc.
8.6 Tracking details will be sent via text or email.
8.7 Deliveries will occur between 9:00am - 6:00pm every working day. Our couriers will notify you by text or email on the day of delivery, so please ensure someone is in to receive and accept your parcel as a signature is required.
8.8 Failed Delivery: Please ensure someone is in to accept your parcel, Original Marquetry Ltd will not be liable for the cost of redelivery.
8.9 Delivery Address: We do not deliver to PO Box addresses. Please ensure your delivery address is correct and complete as once your order has been dispatched, the delivery address may not be changed. Original Marquetry Ltd will not be liable for issues including, but not limited to parcel loss or damage due to an incorrect address, as we copy and paste your address details.
8.10 Adding Special Instructions: We cannot guarantee these instructions will be followed by the courier. If required, we are happy to place special instructions on your parcel however, courier still require someone to sign for the parcel. Therefore, Original Marquetry Ltd will not be liable for issues including, but not limited to parcel loss or damage due to following special instructions.
8.11 Overseas Delivery: Delivery time may be more than stated. Original Marquetry Ltd will not be responsible for any import taxation or customs issues (if any) that may be levied on your packages upon entering your respective countries. Some items cannot be sent overseas; this is specified in the product’s description.
8.12 Collecting via Personal Courier: Apply to where a customer has arranged to pick up the goods themselves via their own or preferred courier. Once the goods are handed over to the provided courier; Original Marquetry Ltd will not be liable for issues with carriage including, but not limited to loss or damage.
8.13 Collecting in Person: Available to prepaid orders placed over the phone or online. You will be notified when a collection is ready. Collections are available after 1:00pm and within 1 - 2 working days. A packaging fee may incur; see the following term.
8.14 Packaging Fee: May apply to collections as dependent on the goods you order with POA (Price on Application). The fee covers any materials used to package your goods to protect and avoid damage during transit after collection. Original Marquetry Ltd will not be liable for issues with carriage including, but not limited to loss or damage after collection.
8.15 Delivery Surcharges:
8.18.1 In the case a parcel is heavier or longer than stated, a small difference will incur in the delivery charge. To keep the delivery charge to a minimum, please advise us the minimum measurements you need so we can place everything onto a small MDF sheet or into a standard parcel size (UK and Overseas sizes differ).
8.18.2 UK Zone 1* Small Parcel is based on parcels measuring approximately up to 1kg and up to 20cm in length. Only available for England, Wales and parts of Scotland and for a goods value of up to £20. Valid for small items such as mother of pearl, brass cabinet fittings, fretsaw blades & small marquetry panels that are easily placed in the box. Excludes some larger brass cabinet fittings, larger marquetry panels, tools, glues, adhesives, inlay brass strips, metal sheets, inlay banding, lines and stringing, veneer packs and veneers.
8.18.3 UK, Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland Delivery Rates are based on parcels measuring approximately up to 25kg and up to 60cm in length. This excludes when sending the following products in full size; constructional veneers, mahogany flame curl veneers, large burr veneers, lines & stringing, inlay bandings brass strips, saw cut veneers and other large items.
8.18.4 Overseas Delivery Rates are based on a flat pack parcel measuring approximately up to 2kg and 50cm x 50cm x 5cm. Wood veneers will be cut to approximately 47cm (18"). Please advise us the minimum length you’d like it cut. Leaving it in its full length will incur a delivery surcharge. This is because a flat pack parcel is cheaper than voluminous parcel such as a cylinder or large boxed parcel, as they use up more space during transit.
Cancellation & Returns Policy
9.1 Orders cancelled prior to dispatch will receive a full refund.
9.2 Before returning an item, please contact us to ensure it will be accepted. No returns unless authorised by Original Marquetry Ltd, without authorisation they will be rejected.
9.3 Returns may be subject to a 20% restocking charge/admin fee.
9.4 Refunds are given at the discretion of company management, only with valid reason or a credit note will be issued.
9.5 When returning, please write your invoice number clearly on the outside packaging.
9.6 If applicable, returns and refunds will be confirmed by email.
9.7 We will refund the price of the goods (excluding carriage/delivery + VAT) provided they are returned unused and in their original condition, together with the original packaging, within 14 calendar days from the date of the delivery.
9.8 Goods with multiple pieces must be returned as a complete set with no items must be missing, including, but not limited to Veneer Packs.
9.9 The cost of return carriage/delivery/postage (+ VAT) is to be paid by the customer and is non-refundable.
9.10 Wood Veneer Returns: Will not be accepted if buyers decide they no longer want the goods, this is to avoid any disputes in the case of accidental damage to the goods during the return process. As veneers are extremely delicate. Please see Term 6.5 and 6.6 in our Terms and Conditions.
9.11 Business to Business (B2B) Transactions: We don’t have to honour any laws.
9.12 Large Off the Shelf Orders: If we order in goods especially for you, this voids Term 9.1 in our Terms and Conditions, therefore we cannot accept returns or cancellations once your payment had been made.
Lost or Damaged Parcels
10.1 Next Working Day Delivery: Please notify us immediately, if you do not receive your goods the next working day.
10.2 Standard Delivery: Please notify us immediately, if you do not receive your goods within a week.
10.3 Packaging is done with care and attention. In the unlikely case of a damaged parcel, please call us and email any photos of the damaged parcel. We will then investigate claims and respond to you as soon as possible with instructions for returns, with subsequent replacement or refund.
10.4 Notification must be made within 2 working days of receipt of order or otherwise claims may not be entertained.
